Asian Games 2023 Highlights: India start Day 1 on a high; rowers, shooters win medals

Asian Games 2023: Indian athletes started off on a perfect note as they secured a total of five medals, which included three silver and two bronze on the opening day of the Hangzhou Asian Games. Among these, three were earned by rowers, while the remaining two were brought home by air rifle shooters. In the lightweight men's double sculls event, the Indian duo of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh clinched a silver medal. Almost simultaneously, the Indian air rifle team also secured a silver medal in the team event. Adding to the glory, Ramit Jindal, a member of the rifle team, later claimed a bronze medal in the individual event. Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram won a bronze in the men’s pair final while the Indian men's coxed-eight team clinched silver.
