NEW DELHI: Team India opened its medal tally at the 19th Asian Games in remarkable fashion, securing a silver medal in the Women's 10 Metre Air Rifle team event. The trio comprising Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ashi Chouksey displayed exceptional marksmanship, earning accolades for their outstanding performance on Sunday.
The Indian team delivered a combined score of 1886, clinching the silver medal. Ramita, with a score of 631.9, secured the second position individually, showcasing her precision and composure. Mehuli Ghosh demonstrated her shooting prowess by finishing in 5th place with a score of 630.8. Meanwhile, Ashi Chouksey contributed significantly with a score of 623.3, finishing 29th in the individual rankings.
Asian Games: Day 1The trio's collective effort in the 10 Metre Air Rifle Team event earned them a spot on the podium. Their remarkable performance was not without stiff competition. China, with a remarkable score of 1896.6, clinched the gold medal, while Mongolia secured the bronze with a total score of 1880.
Ramita and Mehuli's stellar performances also granted them access to the finals of the individual event, where they continued to represent India with distinction.
In an additional highlight, China's Han Jiayu set a new Qualification Asian Record with a score of 634.1, surpassing the previous record set by her compatriot Zhao Ruozhu in New Delhi in 2019.
