Toor's gold medal victory was a significant achievement for India in athletics. Despite facing challenges due to a groin tear he sustained during the Asian Track and Field competition in Bangkok, he managed to rise to the occasion.

"My throw was not that good. It is because when I played the Asian Track and Field competition in Bangkok, I suffered a groin tear. I was sidelined due to injury for two months and stopped throwing. Before the Asian Games, I had only three to four throwing sessions. But I wanted to win a gold for my country," Toor explained.

Toor's winning moment came during his sixth attempt when he launched the shot put 20.36 meters, surpassing Saudi Arabia's Mohamed Daouda, who had led the race for the gold medal with a throw of 20.18 meters in his fourth attempt.

While Toor clinched the gold, his fellow national teammate, Sahib Singh, who was also in contention for a medal, finished in 8th place with a throw of 18.62 meters.
