NEW DELHI: Indian para-badminton player Pramod Bhagat showcased his excellence at the 4th Asian Para Games by clinching a gold medal in the badminton men's singles SL 3 event. In an all-Indian final, Pramod Bhagat triumphed over his compatriot Nitesh Kumar with a closely contested scoreline of 2-1, contributing to India's growing medal tally in the competition.

The final was a highly competitive and thrilling encounter. Pramod Bhagat set the tone with a hard-fought victory in the first set, securing it 22-20 to take an early lead in the match. However, Nitesh Kumar mounted a comeback in the second set, leveling the game with a 21-18 scoreline. With his experience and skill, Pramod Bhagat sealed the deal by winning the deciding set 21-19, ultimately emerging victorious in the final with a 2-1 victory.


In a different event, Indian para-badminton player Krishna Nagar, competing in the men's singles SH6 final, had to settle for a silver medal. He faced tough competition from Hong Kong's Man Kai Chu. While Krishna Nagar lost the first set, he made a remarkable comeback in the second, winning it 21-8. However, in the third and deciding set, Man Kai Chu showcased his dominance, securing a comfortable 21-11 victory.


Earlier in the day, Indian archer Sheetal Devi started the day on a high note, winning a gold medal in the women's compound open event. Sheetal Devi displayed remarkable skill in archery as she triumphed over Singapore's Alim Nur Syahidah in a closely fought contest. Alim Nur had a one-point lead after the first three sets, but Sheetal Devi produced two consecutive perfect scores in the final two sets, securing the game with an overall score of 144-142.

These achievements in para-badminton and archery are a testament to the skill and determination of Indian para-athletes, who continue to shine on the international stage, making their nation proud with their exceptional performances at the 4th Asian Para Games.
