NEW DELHI: Indian archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam achieved a significant feat by clinching the gold medal in the women's compound archery event at the 19th Asian Games. Her victory not only brought honor to India but also propelled the country closer to its ambitious goal of securing 100 medals at the Asian Games.

In a thrilling showdown, Vennam showcased her remarkable archery skills as she triumphed over South Korea's Chaewon So with a scoreline of 149-145. The win solidified her position as India's premier compound archer.

This victory marked Vennam's third gold medal at the Asian Games, further establishing her dominance in the sport. Her previous gold medals were in the archery compound women's team event and the mixed team compound archery event.

In addition to Vennam's success, Aditi Gopichand, another talented Indian archer, secured the silver medal in the women's compound archery event by defeating Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati Fadhly with a score of 146-140.

The Indian archery trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand, and Parneet also combined forces to secure gold in the archery compound women's team event. They triumphed over their competitors from Chinese Taipei, Yi-Hsuan Chen, I-Jou Huang, and Lu-Yun Wang, with a narrow margin of 230-229.

Furthermore, Jyothi Surekha Vennam teamed up with Pravin Ojas Deotale to secure another gold medal in the mixed team compound archery event, defeating South Korea's Chaewon So and Jaehoon Joo in the final at the Hangzhou Games.

These outstanding performances by Indian archers not only brought glory to the nation but also showcased their dedication, skill, and determination on the international stage, contributing to India's medal tally at the prestigious Asian Games.
