NEW DELHI: The Indian women's squash team showcased tremendous determination in the semi-finals at the Asian Games, securing a well-deserved bronze medal despite facing a tough challenge from Hong Kong.

The trio comprising seasoned player Joshna Chinappa, rising star Anahat Singh, and talented athlete Tanvi Khanna engaged in an intense battle, ultimately losing 1-2 to Hong Kong.

Joshna Chinappa emerged as the standout performer for India, displaying her exceptional skills by defeating the world's 24th-ranked player, Tze Lok Ho, with a thrilling scoreline of 3-2 (7-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8).

Her remarkable victory helped level the tie after Tanvi Khanna faced a formidable opponent in Sin Yuk Chan and conceded the opener with a score of 0-3.


Fifteen-year-old Anahat Singh, playing against the highly-ranked and experienced Lee Ka Yi, demonstrated immense courage and determination.

Despite trailing by eight match points and facing a daunting 10-2 deficit in the third game, the young talent made a valiant effort to level the score at 10-10. However, she narrowly lost the final (0-3) with a score of 8-11, 7-11, 10-12, bringing the closely contested tie to a conclusion.

The Indian women's squash team's journey at the Asian Games was marked by their impressive performances and a strong team spirit. Despite the intense competition, they clinched the bronze medal, adding to India's growing medal tally at the prestigious event.
