Asian Games: Aditi Swami sets new archery record with bronze win

NEW DELHI: Despite not being at her best, Indian archer Aditi Swami secured a convincing victory over Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati Fadhly in the women's compound individual bronze play-off at the Asian Games. Aditi Swami, a 17-year-old rising star who had previously claimed the World Championship title in Berlin, managed to maintain her composure and secure a record ninth archery medal for India at the Asian Games.

In a one-sided contest, Aditi Swami prevailed with a score of 146-140 against her Indonesian opponent. While she did drop four points during the match, it was not enough to derail her quest for a medal. This victory marks India's ninth archery medal at the Asian Games, setting a new record for the country and showcasing its strong performance in the sport.


This remarkable achievement surpasses India's previous archery performance at the Incheon edition of the Asian Games in 2014 when the nation secured one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
