Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi opens up on Manipur violence; offers condolences to victims

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday expressed deep sadness over the violence in Manipur and appealed for peace in the state. In a video message posted on the party's official Twitter account, Gandhi said that the violence had "devastated the lives of people" and "uprooted thousands". She said that the violence had "left a deep wound in the conscience of our nation".Gandhi also said that she understood the pain that the people of Manipur were going through, as she was a mother herself. She appealed to the women of the state to lead the way in bringing peace."I appeal for peace and harmony.
