India’s Longest Funicular Railway Launched at Malanggad

India’s longest funicular railway has been inaugurated at Malanggad (Haji Malang), transforming access to the revered hilltop shrine. The 1.2-km cable-based system cuts down a strenuous two-hour trek of 2,600 steps to just 7–10 minutes. Built at a cost of ₹93 crore, the project ensures safer and easier travel, particularly for elderly pilgrims, women, and children, while boosting tourism and religious visits in the region.
