Israel launched fresh airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, targeting what it said were Hezbollah and Hamas military facilities, just days before Lebanon’s army chief is set to brief the government on efforts to disarm Hezbollah near the Israeli border. The strikes followed advance evacuation warnings issued by Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee, and hit locations in the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon. Lebanese state media reported that one strike hit a home linked to a senior Hamas commander previously killed by Israel. The attacks come as Beirut claims it is accelerating the removal of armed groups from border zones, pledging to clear Hezbollah’s presence south of the Litani River by the end of 2025.
