PONDICHERRY: The Indian Association of Medical Microbiology has stressed the need for all microbiological laboratories to undergo strict quality control checks.

pondicherry: the indian association of medical microbiology has stressed the need for all microbiological laboratories to undergo strict quality control checks. addressing a one-day conference of the indian association of medical microbiologists (tamil nadu and pondicherry chapters), association president prof m k lalitha said that national level accreditation would help the laboratories attain high standards in of validity and reliability of information provided by them.
dr r sambasiva rao, director of jipmer, who inaugurated the conference, said a good microbiologay laboratory was an asset to an institution, its students and patients. he said medical graduates, who attended such conferences, would stand to benefit as it would form part of the continuing medical education programme. he also stressed the need for microbology departments to update their infrastructure in keeping with ongoing developments in technology. a number of delegates from tamil nadu and pondicherry particpated in the deliberations.
