Priced at Rs 3,499, the earphones definitely seem good in terms of specs and overall appeal. We used them for a few days to find out more, and here are our observations.

Build and Design

The Brainwavz BLU-200 earphones are decent as far as the build quality and design are concerned. Much like the predecessor, BLU-100, the BLU-200 earphones sport a wrap behind the head design.

This isn't the only feature common between the two earphones, and Brainwavz hasn't really put much thought in upgrading BLU-200. In spite of that, the earphones are reasonably good looking. Much of that can be attributed to the combination of green and black colours used in the ear buds’ design.

If we talk about the quality of earphones, we were happier with it than we were with the overall aesthetics. Even the quality of the provided ear buds was good, and we didn't face any issues with them.

The in-line controller between the two ear pieces houses the volume rocker and play/pause button. The play/pause button is also used for Bluetooth pairing. Once you press it for 5 seconds or more, the earphones are ready to be paired with your device. On flipping the in-line controller, you can see the tiny microphone with 'BLU-200' written right below it.

The earpieces have a solid build quality thanks to the metal body they sport. Both the earpieces come with 'Brainwavz' branding, and the right earpiece also houses the USB charging slot for recharging the built-in battery.

To sum it up, we found the earphones to be satisfactory on the design front. The overall build quality is great too.

Performance

During our testing, the BLU-200 earphones were quite good at cancelling external noise and the output audio quality left us impressed. Even when listening to music on higher volumes, the quality of sound did not deteriorate.

For bass lovers, using the BLU-200 will definitely be a good experience. Audio levels were great as well, and music across a variety of genres sounded quite clear.

Thanks to the solid built-in microphone, the BLU-200 worked perfectly when used for making phone calls.

As for the battery performance, it lasted around 4 hours on a full charge.

Verdict

We were impressed with the

Brainwavz BLU-200

on all fronts. Although the design could have been better, the good sound output and the build quality can more than make up for that. In our opinion, the Brainwavz BLU-200 would make a good buy at a price of Rs 3,499.
