The BenQ W3000 is an excellent projector and is competitively priced as well.
BenQ’sW3000 is a single-chip DLP projector that complies with the Rec 709 standard for high definition colour reproduction. The 3D capable projector handles 2D projection equally well. It’s easily adjustable, thanks to the built-in lens shift functionality. These are great features, but are they enough to justify the asking price of Rs 1,50,000? We spent a few days with the BenQ W3000 to find out, and here’s the rest of our review.
Design and build quality
BenQW3000 is a well-designed projector, having a dual-tone body. Made from plastic fibre the projector is stunning to look at. The front side houses the lens, along with the zoom dial and exhaust vent. The projector’s top surface is where the access control buttons and lens shift knobs are located, and the sides have openings for the speakers. As for the rear panel, it contains all the connection ports including two USB (one each of type-A and mini type-B) ports, two
HDMI ports, component and composite video ports as well as audio in/out ports. BenQW3000 can be easily adjusted to display content from various awkward angles, and has excellent throw range. It can project 60-inch images/videos from a range of 6 feet, thanks to the lens’ zooming capabilities.

During our tests, projected content looked crisp and there was no pixelation even when the images were blown up. The W3000 can reproduce images and videos at a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, better known as Full HD. During our time with the device, projected images were clearly visible in both dark and well-lit conditions. The skin tones and textures were accurately reproduced as well. A particularly pleasant surprise turned out to be the audio quality, which was both loud and clear. Unfortunately, we could not test the 3D performance of BenQW3000 fully. This was primarily due to the lack of 3D glasses, which are available in specific regions only. The projector also took a while when switching from 2D to 3D mode. It’s worth mentioning that the remote controller is backlit, and thus comes in handy when controlling the projector in dark settings.

The clear audio output is an added bonus. However, the projector does stutter a bit with 3D content. That said, BenQ W3000 is still impressively capable, and at Rs 1, 50,000 is value-for-money.
