When is Papamochani Ekadashi 2026? Check date, parana time and significance

The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Ekadashi falls twice a month during krishna paksha and shukla paksha. This month, Papamochani Ekadashi will be observed during krishna paksha in the month of Chaitra. Devotees will observe Papamochani Ekadashi vrat on March 15, 2026.
Papamochani Ekadashi holds a great religious and spiritual significance. This day is considered extremely sacred to perform puja to Lord Vishnu. This day is known for spiritual purification, and devotees take this as an opportunity to get rid of their past committed sins. Papamochani means paap (sins) and mochani means the removal of the sins. It is believed that people, who observe fast on this auspicious day of Ekadashi can get rid of their past committed sins and get relieved from their bad karmas. This fast is observed by the devotees for spiritual purification, cleansing, and they seek forgiveness from the Lord for all their negative actions and mistakes they have made in the past knowingly or unknowingly. This fast is extremely powerful that cleanse your mind, body and soul completely.
Parana is the specific time period when devotees break their Ekadashi Vrat on Dwadashi tithi. According to the scriptures, Ekadashi fast must be broken during this particular auspicious time, which usually falls during the early morning hours. This is important for the devotees to break their fast during this prescribed time that ensure spiritual enlightenment and provides the benefit of Ekadashi.

Recite the story: Katha recitation is very important if you are observing fast then you must follow all the rituals properly.
Breaking the fast: You are advised to break your fast on the day of Dwadashi or the next day of Ekadashi tithi during the time of parana.
