Vinayaka Chaturthi falls during Shukla Paksha every month. This days is dedicated top Lord Ganpati. This month, it is being observed today, on December 26, 2022 in the month of Pausha. People keep fast and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. On the auspicious day of Vinayaka Chaturthi, people visit Lord Ganesha temple and offer modaks and laddoos to Lord Ganesha and seek blessings from the Lord.

Vinayaka ChaturthiDecember 2022: Vinayaka Chaturthi is considered to be one of the most sacred day which is dedicated to worship Lord Ganesha. On this auspicious day, devotees observe strict fast and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. Chaturthi is observed twice a month in which Sankashti Chaturthi falls in Krishna Paksha and Vinayak Chaturthi falls during Shukla Paksha.
This month, Vinayak Chaturthi will be observed on the fourth day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Pausha i.e., today, December 26, 2022.

Vinayaka Chaturthi December 2022 : Significance
According to the Hindus scriptures, Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and he is known to be the destroyer of all the obstacles. Lord Ganesha is also known as Vighnaharta and Mangal Karta. It is believed that devotees who observe fast with full devotion and dedication on the day of Vinayak Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha bless them with happiness, prosperity, wealth and goodness in life.

Lord Ganesha is the one who is worshipped first before any other God and he must be worshipped before starting any ritual, puja, hawan or any auspicious activity. It is also believed that people who are dealing with hardships, must seek blessings from Lord Ganesha to get rid of inauspiciousness from life and observe fast on this particular day. Devotees lead a happy and prosperous life by pleasing Lord Ganesha on this day
It is said that people who are childless or wish to have a son, must observe fast on each chaturthi and please Lord Ganesha as he fulfills all the desired wishes of the devotees.
What to eat during fast - Fried Potatoes, Makhana Kheer, Sama Rice Khichdi, Fruits and Milk Products.
Vinayaka Chaturthi December 2022 : Puja Rituals
1. Devotees wake up early in the morning, take a holy bath and wear nice clean clothes.
2. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Ganesha, Light a diya with desi ghee, offer yellow flowers or yellow flowers garland, kumkum, durva (Green Grass), which is Lord Ganesha's favourite herb.
3. People must offer laddoo or modak to Lord Ganesha.
4. Chant Lord Ganesha Mantra ‘Om Shree Ganeshaye Namah’ before performing pooja, on must recite Vinayak (Bindayak) Katha and Lord Ganesha Aarti.
5. The devotees, who can not observe fast on this day, they should visit Lord Ganesha temple and do abhishekam with panchamrit (Milk, Sugar, Honey, Curd, Ghee) and offer laddoo or modak to Lord Ganesha.
6. The devotees can break their fast in the evening after offering prayers and bhog prasad to Lord Ganesha. The bhog prasad must be satvik (without garlic and onion).
7. There is a great significance of moon in this fast (Vrat). It is believed that one must offer water (Arghya) to moon in the evening.
8. The devotees can break their fast (Vrat) after offering water (Arghya) to moon.
9. People should break their fast by having only satvik food.
