Som Pradosh Vrat 2022: Som Pradosh Vrat is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is observed on the Trayodashi Tithi. According to Hindu Calender, Pradosh vrat is observed twice a month i.e in Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha. Pradosh Vrat, which falls on Monday is known as Som Pradosh Vrat. This month, Som Pradosh Vrat is being observed today on Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha i.e

Som Pradosh Vrat Significance :- It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddesss Parvati feels extremely delighted and generous on the day of pradosh. Pradosh means, belonging or the first part of the evening. Pradosh vrat can be observed by anyone irrespective of age and gender.
According to the Hindu Scriptures, the devotees observe fast on Som Pardosh and fasting is observed from the sunrise till sunset, during which the devotees maintain the pure and pious thoughts, do bhajan kirtan and keep themselves away from any bad acts or thoughts. In some parts of India, devotees worship the Nataraj form of Lord Shiva on this day.
Som Pradosh Vrat 2022 Rituals :- 1. The devotees, who observe fast on this holy day of Som Pradosh, must wake up early in the morning.
2. Take a holy bath and wear nice and clean clothes.
3. Place an idol of Goddes Gauri, Lord Shiva with Lord Ganesha and Skand (Kartikeya) which is called an idol of Shiva Praivaar.
4. After placing an idol, one must light a diya, offer vermillion or flowers, white sweets (Barfi or kheer).
5. Recite Shiva chalisa, Pradosh Vrat Katha and Lord Shiva Aarti.
6. After performing Pooja at home, one must visit the temple.
7. The devotees must perform shivling abhishekam, which is considered to be highly auspicious on the day of Som Pradosh.
8. The devotees perform abhishekam with the mixture of five things i.e. Milk, Curd, Sugar, Honey and Ghee.
9. The devotees also offer itra (scent), clothes to Shiva Parivaar.
10. It is considered to be highly auspicious to offer Bel Patra to Lord Shiva.
11. After completing all the rituals, the devotees can break their fast in the evening after the sunset and have satvik meal (without onion and garlic) according to their choice.
The devotees, who observe Som Pradosh Vrat are blessed with peace of mind, good health, prosperity and fulfilment of desires not only for self but family also. Som Pradosh vrat is also observed for the spiritual upliftment. Female unmarried devotees, who are facing marriage related problem in their lives, must observe fast on Pradosh and they should offer atleast 5 items of shringaar to Goddess Parvati which is considered to be highly auspicious and Shringaar items can be - Sindoor, Bangles, Bindi, Kajal, Mehandi, Nail Paint and Lipstick.
