Significance of Vrischika Sankranti

The sacred day that marks the movement of the Sun from Tula Rashi, i.e. Libra to Vrischika Rashi, i.e. Scorpio is known as Vrischika or Vruschika Sankranti. The Scorpio zodiac sign is the 8th sun sign of the 12 signs. As per the Gregorian calendar as well as the Vedic Indian calendar, the Vruschika rashi or Scorpio zodiac sign occupies the 8th position.

As the Vruschika Sankranti occurs at a specific time of the year, this transition of the Sun helps to rejuvenate energy. Vrischika or Vruschika Sankranti also marks the beginning of the Karthigai Masam in the Tamil calendar. similarly, it marks the beginning of the Vrischika Masam in the Malayalam calendar.

On this day, daan or charity must be performed, especially in the given benefic time period as it will help achieve maximum benefits. On this day, Pitru Tarpan and Shradh rituals can be performed as well.
