Purnima 2025: In Hinduism, Purnima, or the Full Moon, is regarded as an auspicious day. The purpose of this day is to honor Lord Vishnu. On this day, people observe a fast and devote themselves fully to praying to Lord Vishnu. On this day, they hold Satyanarayan Puja and worship Lord Vishnu in the form of Satyanarayan.

Purnima is the name given to the full moon day in North India. On the other hand, the full moon day is called Pournami or Pournima in South India, and Pournami Vratam is the name for fasting on this day.

Because the moon's rays are regarded as sacred and heavenly on this specific day, the full moon has its own religious and spiritual significance. Fasting on the day of the full moon is thought to help people feel less stressed, anxious, and depressed.

According to astrology, the moon is connected to the mind, emotions, feelings, water, and mother. Therefore, on this Purnima Tithi, people who have the moon in a bad position—the sixth, eighth, or twelfth—or who have the moon with a malefic planet—such as Saturn, Rahu, or Ketu—must worship the moon and offer arghya to it. One can eliminate all Moon-related pain by offering a pooja to the Moon.
