or Ghatasthapana is one of the most important rituals observed during Navratri festival. The Kalash Sthapana or Ghatasthapana is observed on the first day of the Navratri.

Kalash Sthapana date is Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Ghatasthapana marks the beginning of nine days Navratri festivity. Ghatasthapana is invocation of Goddess Shakti. Here's is a step by stem guide on how to do Navratri Ghatasthapana:

Prepare Kalash for Invoking Goddess Durga
Take a clay pot and spead a layer of soil on it and then spread the grain seeds. Add a second layer of soil and sprinkle some water to set it. Tie a sacred thread on the neck of the Kalash and fill it up with the holy water. Drop Supari, scent, Durva grass, Akshat and coins into the water. Put 5 leaves of Ashoka or Mango at the edge of the Kalash and cover it with a lid. Wrap a coconut inside a red cloth, fasten it with scared thread and keep it on top of Kalash. The Kalash is now ready to invoke Goddess Durga into it.

Invoke Goddess Durga and request Her to accept your prayers and reside into the Kalash for nine days of Navratri.

Pooja Steps to be followed
Show diya, dhoop to the Kalash, offer flowers and scent and then offer fruits and sweets to the Kalash to conclude first step of puja. Next recite Durga Puja Mantras followed by Maa Durga Aarti.
