Kalashtami 2023: Significance

Kalashtami holds a great religious significance among the Hindu devotees, who worship Lord Bhairav. Lord Kaal Bhairav is the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva worshipped on this day. It is considered auspicious when Kalashtami falls on Sunday as this day is dedicated to worship Lord Kaal Bhairav. Devotees offer liquor and milk on this day. A large number of devotees visit temple on this day.

Kaal Bhairav is also known as the God of Time and is fully revered by worshippers of Lord Shiva. He is the remover of all types of bad habits, bad elements and negative energy. The worshippers can also get relieved from the evil spirits and black magic. He gives protection to all his devotees from the hidden enemies. They need to have a firm devotion while offering prayers to Lord Kaal Bhairav and those who keep faith in him, never feel upset.

1. Devotees get up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
2. They clean their house and puja room.
3. Take an idol of Lord Kaal Bhairav, offer garland light a diya with mustard oil.

5. People visit the temple and there also they light a diya with mustard oil and seek blessings of Kaal Bhirav.
6. Meetha Rott is offered as bhog. Special prasad is prepared for Kaal Bhairav.

7. Devotees break their fast in the evening after sunset.
8. Eating any tamsikk food item on this day is considered inauspicious.

How to prepare Meetha Rott at home?

Take two big bowls of wheat flour and take jaggery in a bowl as per taste, add some water and turn it a liquid form. You can also boil jaggery in water on a low flame. Let it cool down and then mix it in wheat flour, you can also add some fennel seeds and make a hard dough then make it as thick roti. Now the Meetha Rott is ready.
