Ekadashi is one of the most auspicious day, which is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu. Devotees observe strict fast from dawn to dusk and offer prayers to Lord Vishnu with immense devotion and purity. Ekadashi falls twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. The fast is broken on the next day of dwadashi tithi at the time of parana. Ekadashi is the most significant day, which is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu. Devotees observe fast on this auspicious day and offer prayers to lord Shri Hari. This day is considered as the most sacred day to perform puja to Lord Vishnu. There are 24 Ekadashi observances in a year and falls twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. They observe fast, offer prayers to Lord Vishnu by chanting mantras, spiritual purification, offering bhog prasad, reciting vrat katha and seeking blessings of the Lord. On the day of Ekadashi, those who pray to Lord Vishnu, the universe's protector, are saved and freed from the cycle of birth and death. Lord Vishnu absolves fast observers of all their sins and grants them entry into Vaikuntha Dham, his dwelling.
1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up.
2. Before setting up the altar, clean the house and the puja room.
3. Set up an idol of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi in the form of Shree Yantra.
4. Light a diya with desi ghee, decorate the idols with flowers, and offer homemade sweets.
5. Chant the Vishnu Maha Mantra and Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye 108 times.
6. Recite the Ekadashi Vrat Katha.
7. Spend your day chanting mantras.
8. Lord Vishnu must also be worshipped in the evening and conclude the puja after reciting the aarti.
9. The next day, on dwadashi tithi, Ekadashi fast is broken. However, those who can not bear the hunger can eat on the same day by having sattvik food, fruits, fried potato with curd and milk products; rice is not allowed on the day of Ekadashi.
