They perform various religious and spiritual activities on this auspicious day. The day is considered auspicious for fasting, self discipline and spiritual purification. This is a powerful day to do meditation, offer prayers to Lord Vishnu, and chanting mantras associated with the Lord.
This fast is believed to cleanse your body, mind and soul and people observe fast for spiritual purification. On the day of Ekadashi, its not just about the fasting but to abstain yourself from so many things and maintain the balance, which means you should have control over your senses. You should stay away from food, ill talks, negative thoughts, maintain celibacy and control desires. This fast is so powerful that it can remove all your past karmas, sins and karmic baggage. T
1. Wake up early in the morning and clean your house specially puja room.
2. You should take a holy bath.
3. Give bath to the idol of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna and Laddoo Gopal ji.
4. Adorn them with clothes and garland.
5. Apply tilak and light a diya with desi ghee in front of the idol.
6. Chant Lord Vishnu mantras to invoke the idol.
7. In the evening also, one must offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and perform aarti.
8. Those who are unable to bear hunger, the can eat fruits and milk products in the evening and finally they must break their fast next day on Dwadashi Tithi during Parana Time.
