Chitragupta puja 2023: Chitragupta Puja is observed on the day of Bhai Dooj. To honourLord Chitragupta, a unique worship ceremony is held among the Kayastha community. Lord Chitragupta as a close companion of Lord Yama, the god of death. It is Lord Yama's responsibility to keep an exhaustive record of all human karma on Earth. Chitragupta, also called the god of justice, is said to punish sinners and maintain a record of all human virtues and Karmas. Chitragupt Puja is performed on Dwitiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik. This year Chitragupta Puja is being performed on November 15, 2023.

Chitragupta Puja 2023: Significance

Chitragupta Puja holds a great religious significance. Lord Chitragupta is the lord of justice who keeps a record of Karmas of all the people. By worshipping Chitragupta, devotees get relieved from their past bad Karmas and receive the blessings of Lord Chitragupta. In Hindu mythology states that Chitragupta writesevery person's life and deeds, determining their fate in the afterlife and whether they should be punished for their evil deeds or rewarded with moksha (liberation). People offer prayers to Chitragupta and pray for the justice, wisdom and peace during Chitragupta Puja. It is believed that Lord Chitragupta gets only one holiday in entire year when Yamadev goes to his sister for the Bhai Dooj celebration.

Chitragupta Puja 2023: Rituals

1. People wake up early in the morning and clean their home.
2. Take the idol ofLord Chitragupta and give abath withrose water.
3. Lord Chitragupta idol is placed on a wooden plank and make atraditional rangoli, facing eastward.
4. Put aroli tikka, offer flowers, light a ghee diya in front of the deity, and decorate it with rice.

5. Offer panchamitra, which is made with dahi, milk, honey, sugar, and ghee along withsweets, fruits, and prasad.
5. It is believed that having a pen and journal ready for the puja is essential.
6. Making a Swastika symbol on the ground with abir paste, turmeric, vermilion, and sandalwood is another part of Chitragupta Puja Vidhi.
7. Placerice and a kalash that has been partially filled with water on top of Swastik.
8. Recite Chitragupta Katha and perform Aarti.
