Bhaum Pradosh Vrat April 2026: Date, timings, puja rituals and significance
Pradosh is one of the most auspicious days dedicated to worship Lord Shiva. The day is considered powerful to seek blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees of Lord Shiva offer their sincere prayers to him on this specific day and seek abundance. This day holds an immense sacred significance. On this auspicious day, devotees observe fasts and offer prayers. Pradosh day that falls on Tuesday is known as Bhaum Pradosh Vrat. This day falls during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha and this time, Bhaum Pradosh is going to take place on Trayodashi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. Bhaum Pradosh Vrat is being observed on April 28, 2026.
Pradosh day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. The day is considered as an auspicious day to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. On this sacred day, devotees offer their sincere prayers to them with devotion and purity. Pradosh day that falls on Tuesday is known as Bhaum Pradosh Vrat. Devotees observe fast from dawn to dusk and pray to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is believed that those, who fast on this day with complete devotion would get blessings from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva bestow them with happiness, health, prosperity, and he fulfill their desired wishes.
In some regions, Lord Natraj, the god of dance and Tandava, is worshipped on this sacred day. Lord Shiva slew the demon Apasmara by performing Tandava. According to legends, people who worship this form of Lord Shiva experience relief from all mental problems, illusions, anxiety, depression, and negative thoughts.
As we all know that this Pradosh falls on Tuesday so it is referred to as Bhaum Pradosh Vrat and devotees, who under the influence of Mars in their birth chart are recommended to recite hanuman chalisa seven times in order to eliminate the malefic effects of Mangal (Mars).
1. Devotees take a sacred bath after waking up early in the morning.
2. Light a diya in front of the Shiva Parivaar idol.
3. Adorn the idol with fresh flowers and garland and offer homemade sweets and dry fruits.
4. The best time to carry out puja rites is during Gaudhooli or twilight period, which is in the evening.
5. Chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra 108 times and recite Pradosh Vrat Katha.
6. Offer bhog prasad to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Kartikeya and Lord Ganesha.
7. You should conclude the puja rituals by reciting the aarti and then distribute bhog prasad among the family members.
8. You can break your fast by eating sattvik food.
