Adhik Purnima in May 2026: Know when to observe Purnima fast?
Purnima is the most sacred day in Hinduism. This is the day when Moon comes in its full form. The beginning of new things, new ideas, new goals. Purnima represents happiness, new ideas, new goals, new beginning, growth and success. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. This day is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu. On this sacred day, people observe fast, do meditation and mantra chanting. Devotees observe fast from sunrise till sunset and perform satyanarayan puja. In the month of May, Adhik Purnima is going to be observed on Purnima tithi i.e., on May 30, 2026.

Adhik Purnima is one of the most auspicious days. It is believed to be the most sacred day when the divine rays of the Moon falls on earth. Devotees offer their sincere prayers to Lord Vishnu on this specific day. Adhik Maas occurs approximately every three years to balance the lunar and solar calendars. This additional month is considered very powerful as the month is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu that's why it is known as Purushottam Maas. People perform various puja rituals and spiritual activities to appease Vishnu Bhagwan. Devotees observe fast from dawn to dusk dedicated to Lord Satyanarayan.
1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
2. Clean the home and puja area before performing puja.
3. Place an idol of lord Vishnu on a wooden plank and light a diya with desi ghee.
4. Chant mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu to invoke the idol.
5. Devotees perform Satyanarayan Katha.
