Essential teachings of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa for spiritual awakening
Ramakrishna Paramhansa was the 19th century Hindu saint and spiritual leader from Bengal, who was the Guru of Swami Vivekananda. He was an ardent devotee of Goddess Kali and practiced various Hindu traditions (Tantra, Bhakti, Advaita Vedanta). Let's check out the below mentioned teachings given by Ramakrishna Paramhansa:
Even though Sri Ramakrishna followed a variety of spiritual paths, he was predisposed to bhakti and unconditional love for God. He encouraged his followers to cultivate a personal relationship with the divine through devotion, prayer, and worship.
According to him, all the religions are real and they all lead to the same destination. He urged his followers to value and recognize the distinctions among various religions.
According to Ramakrishna, achieving spiritual enlightenment and establishing a connection with the divine can be facilitated by repeating a sacred mantra. He urged those who follow him to select a mantra and repeat that.
Discrimination, according to Ramakrishna, is necessary for spiritual development. In order to comprehend the nature of the self, he urged his followers to distinguish between the real and the unreal.
Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa never claimed all the credit for anyone's spiritual development, despite the fact that he was a teacher to many. He held that a guru was merely there to provide guidance and that genuine realization came from within. "The guru is like a matchstick; he lights the fire, but the wood must burn," he would frequently remark.
According to him, love is the purest form of devotion and this will show you the path of God, all the living things, and oneself. He urged people to have compassion and love in their hearts.
According to Ramakrishna, concentration is an important spiritual exercise that helps to maintain the mental focus. Through meditation and other techniques, he motivated his disciples to strengthen their capacity for focus.
Ramakrishna taught that the material world is not the ultimate reality because this is temporary and that the world is an illusion (maya). He encouraged his disciples to develop a detached attitude toward worldly pleasures and attachments and understand the reality of maya or illusion.
Knowing the divine power and trying to walk on the spiritual are the ultimate goals of life, according to Ramakrishna. He encouraged his followers to prioritize this above all else and to work hard and devotedly toward it.
Ramakrishna taught many things about the eternal soul, which is the same as the divine, is the ultimate self, not the body or mind. He encouraged his followers to perform various spiritual activities like meditation to come to terms with this reality.
