Soora Samharana 2024: Soora Samharan is celebrated to honor Lord Murugan. On this auspicious day, devotees perform puja to Lord Skanda, who is the son of Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati. The festival is mainly celebrated in Tamil Nadu as he is the most revered God in South India. Soora Samharan is being celebrated on Sashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik i.e., November 7, 2024.

Soora Samharan 2024: Significance

Soora Samharan is one of the most auspicious day to honor Lord Murugan. On this sacred day, devotees offer prayers to Lord Skanda and seek blessings of the Lord. This day represents the strength, power, and good fortune. People celebrate this day with great happiness and fervor. Lord Murugan is known to destroy all the evil forces and negative energies. Devotees worship him with immense devotion and faith and it is believed that the one whop worship him with pure intentions, Lord Skanda bestow them with power, courage and remove all the evil energies to protect the devotees. Soora Samharan is celebrated with great enthusiasm in all the temples situated in South India that are dedicated to Lord Murugan. Tiruchendur Temple is one of the most famous temple of Lord Murugan and special puja rituals are organised in this temple on this particular day and large number of people visit the temple to have a glimpse of the Lord. The very next day of Soora Samharan, people celebrate the wedding day of Lord Murugan and Devasena and the day is celebrated as Thirukalyanam.

Soora Samharan 2024: Story

Soora Samharan is one of the most revered day, which is mainly celebrated in Tamil Nadu. This day holds a great religious significance among Hindus. According to the Hindu Scriptures, Skanda Purana, once there was a demon named Surapadma, who was very powerful and he established his own kingdom. After sometime she started dominating all the deities and people of that kingdom and he also captured the earth. He started doing injustice with the people and it spread everywhere. All the deities then went to Lord Kartikeya to stop this unrighteousness. Lord Skanda then came in power and fought with this demon. The battle lasted for six days and then finally Lord Murugan killed the demon Surapadma. The day hem killed the demon, celebrated as Soora Samharan. Devotees celebrate the victory of Lord Murugan again the evil forces.
