Shani Jayanti is a significant day. Lord Surya and Mother Swarna (Chhaya) gave birth to Lord Shani on this sacred day that's why the day is celebrated as Shani Jayanti. As the day falls on Anavasya tithi so this is also observe as Shani Amavasya. Lord Shani is regarded as the ruler of karma, justice and discipline including commerce and service. It is believed that wherever Shanidev looks directly, it is seen to be unlucky, and devotees should avoid staring into Lord Shani's eyes.
In the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, this event is especially observed. The nation's most well-known Lord Shani dev temples include Thirunallar Shani Temple, Kokilavan Dham Sani Dev Temple, and Shani Shingnapur. To offer prayers to Lord Shani dev, many devotees travel to Shani Shingnapur.
