Saraswati Puja 2022: Date, Rituals, Story and its Significance during Navratri

Saraswati Puja 2022: Goddess Saraswati or Saraswati Devi is the Goddess of knowledge, learning, wisdom and music. Goddess Saraswati is the creator and donor of knowledge and bestow the devotees with power of wisdom, learning, music and arts. Saraswati Puja is famous in south India. It is an auspicious day which is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Saraswati Puja is going to be celebrated on 9th day of Navratri, which is Navami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in Ashwina month i.e., 4th October, 2022


Saraswati Puja 2022: Significance

Saraswati puja is celebrated by all Hindus. This festival has a great significance for scholars and students, who worship Goddess Saraswati with pure dedication and devotion to acquire knowledge and wisdom and the people, who are into music field as without Goddess Saraswati's blessings, one can not get success in this. On the tenth day of Navaratri, Vidyarambham is celebrated and this day is considered to be an auspicious day, when children are first introduced to the world of education.

It is believed that Goddess Saraswati invented 'Sanskrit' language that is known to be the language of scriptures, scholars and Brahmins.

Kamadeva, the lord of love is also worshipped on this day. People offer food to the brahmins and performing Pitru Tarpan through a priest and worshipping the ancestors is a part of their ritual. Children are made to write their first words on this auspicious day of Saraswati puja. Pushpanjali is offered to please the Goddess of Knowledge.


Saraswati Puja 2022: Story

As per the mythological stories, it is believed that on this auspicious day Goddess Saraswati created powerful weapons to kill the demon named ‘Magishasuran’. The weapons were then considered to be holy and sacred and people began to worship them.


Saraswati Puja 2022: Rituals
1. Get up early in the morning and take a holy bath.

2. Place an idol of Goddess Saraswati, offer her white colour flowers or garland (white lily), dupatta, white sweets as well.

3. White colour flower and that also white lily flower holds a special significance.

4. People should also dress up in yellow colored clothes.

5. Offer sweets, fruits, roli, moli and keep your books, stationary and instrument in front of the Goddess Saraswati.

6. Cultural programmes are hosted at night in South India.

7. Must take blessings from the elder member of the family, spiritual Guru and teacher by touching their feet.
