Navratri 2022 Day 6: Navratri days are so sacred that people do so many religious and spiritual activities during these days. Devotees worship different forms of Maa Durga in Navratri. These days are considered to be the most auspicious days for the people who do sadhna. Even people, who are into meditation activity, must worship Maa Durga to get proper concentration and focus in life. The sixth Navratri is being observed today, on 1st October, 2022.

Navratri 2022 Day 6: Significance

Maa Katyayani was born to put an end to the evil spirits. All gods and deities presented their weapons to the Goddess to kill Mahishasur. Shiva presented Trident (Trisul), Lord Vishnu gave her Disk (Sudarshan Chakra), Varuna gave her conch shell (Shankh), Vayu presented bow, Lord Brahma gave her rosary and a water pot, Vishwakarma gave her a fight hatchet and many other weapons.

Katyayani Maa is in the fiercest form of Goddess Durga. The incarnation of Goddess Parvati is said to be the most violent and is also known as the Warrior Goddess. Goddess Katyayani is full of power, energy and a fighter who fight against the evil spirits and destroy the demons. She is the Goddess, who rides a lion and she was shining as thousands sun. Goddess Katyayani has four hands in which she is holding a long sword and lotus flowers and her another hand is in Abhay Mudra. She has shining body structure. Maa Katyayani governs the planet Brihaspati. She symbolizes intelligence and peace.

She killed the demon king Mahishasur by beheading him with the sword and that is reason why Goddess Katyayani is known as Mahishasurmardini. After this the festival of Durga Puja is celebrated in different parts of the country.

Navratri 2022 Day 6: Story

According to the Hindu Scriptures, Once there was a sage named Katyayan, he was childless and he was also an ardent devotee of Maa parvati. Sage Katyayan strictly penanced Goddess Parvati and prayed to the Goddess to take a birth as his daughter. Maa Parvati pleased by his devotion and blessed him with the wish fulfilment. Goddess Parvati incarnated as his daughter and named Katayayani.

Navratri 2022 Day 6: Worship Goddess Katyayani to get desired life partner

As per the text Bhagwad Purana, once there were many young ladies observed a fast during the month of Margshirsha and worshipped Goddess Katyayani to get Lord Krishna as their husbands. They created a clay idol and worshipped the idol. Goddess Katayayani blessed them with their desired wishes. It is believed that in Tamil Nadu, Goddess named as Kanya Kumari is the symbol of Maa Katayayani.

She is the greatest of givers and it is also believed that unmarried girls, who worship Goddess Katyayani to get married soon or wish for the desired husband or life partner, Goddess bless them with wish fulfilment.

The married people, who are facing problem in their married life, must chant Maa Katyayani Mantra daily 108 times to make the relationship stronger.

1. Wake up in the morning and take a holy bath.

2. Take a wooden plank, cover it with red colour cloth and place an idol of Katayayani Maa.

3. Offer fresh flowers and vermillion, fruits, light a diya, put kumkum on the forehead and offer homemade sweets.

4. Offer 5 shringaar items to the Goddess (haldi, sindoor, mehendi, saree, bindi) and make a wish.

5. Now light a camphor and offer it to the Goddess.

6. Perform Goddess Durga and Maa Katyayani Aarti.

7. Seek blessings and forgiveness from the divine mother.

8. Devotees can break their fast after offering Bhog to the Goddess.
