Lord Narasimha is one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Narasimha. His birth anniversary is celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm and fervor. Lord Narasimha's birth anniversary is mainly celebrated in South India. Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated on Chaturdashi tithi of shukla paksha in the month of Vaishakha. This year, Narasimha Jayanti is going to be celebrated on April 30, 2026.
Narasimha Jayanti is one of the most significant festivals of Hindus. The day celebrates the birth anniversary of Lord Narasimha, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This auspicious day holds a great religious and spiritual significance in Hinduism. Devotees offer their sincere prayers to Lord Narasimha, one of the fiercest forms of Lord Vishnu. Narsimha is the combination of two words - Nara means human and Simha means Lion. He appeared in the form of a half human and half lion that's why he is called as Narasimha. Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated with great grandeur and enthusiasm mainly in South India. Lord Narasimha is believed to eliminate all the demons and enemies from the life of devotees. It is also believed that people, who are suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, evil spirits and black magic are advised to worship him with devotion as he is know for removing all the negativity from the life of devotees.
1. Before beginning puja rituals, devotees get up early and take a sacred bath.
2. If you have an idol of Lord Narasimha, place it on a wooden plank; if not, place an idol of Lord Vishnu and give a bath with panchamrit.
3. Light a diya with desi ghee and adorn the idol with clothes and jewelry.
4. Offer flowers, five fruits, dried fruits, and homemade sweets like halwa or kheer.
5. To seek the Lord's blessings, recite the Lord Narasimha mantra 108 times.
6. Devotees can also visit the temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and offer the tulsi garland to Lord Vishnu.
