Masik Kalashtami 2026 Dates: Check Kalashtami calendar for the whole year
Kalashtami is the significant day in Hindu religion. The day is purely dedicated to worship Lord Kaal Bhairav. This day is considered as an extremely powerful day to appease Lord Kaal Bhairav, the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva. On this sacred day, devotees offer their sincere prayers to Kaal Bhairav by observing fast from sunrise till sunset and seek the blessings. People worship him to seek the protection, power, and blessings. It is believed that he controls the time and death. The one, who worship him with devotion, Lord Kaal Bhairav protects them by creating a protective shield around them. He eliminates the five bad elements and these five bad elements are: Kaam (Lust), Krodh (Anger), Lobh (Greed), Moh (Attachment) and Ahamkara (Ego). People who think they are attacked by the hidden enemies or they are facing evil eye issues, they must worship him with sincerity.
You can worship him by observing fast on Ashtami tithi of krishna paksha (the waxing phase of the Moon) from dawn to dusk. This is a monthly fast, which can be observed by anyone, who is sufferings in life. On this auspicious day, they should wake up early in the morning and after taking bath, place an idol or image of Bhairav baba and if you don't have any then you can worship Lord Shiva remembering his Lord Bhairav form. Light a diya with mustard oil and place five cotton wicks in that or you can light five faced diya. Chant mantras associated with him and recite Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam. In the evening again, you should light a mustard oil diya and offer meetha rott, semolina halwa and sweet poode as bhog prasad.
