Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most significant day and has a great importance among Jain community. On this day, they commemorate the famous Jain Tirthankara's birth anniversary. In the month of Chaitra, on the thirteenth day of Shukla Paksha, he was born. The birth of a renowned Jain Tirthankara is celebrated on Mahavir Jayanti. It marks the 2623rd anniversary of Lord Mahavir's birth. He is regarded as a teacher, who spreads Jain dharma. Mahavir Jayanti is being celebrated today i.e., April 10, 2025.

Mahavir Jayanti holds a great religious significance among Jain people. They celebrate this day with great enthusiasm and fervor. This day is dedicated to the Lord Mahavir, a Jain saint who is known amongst the most famous saints. It is believed that when Lord Mahavira’s mother was pregnant then she had certain dreams. Lord Mahavir is regarded as one of the holiest and he established peace and harmony among people. Lord Mahavir, the 24th and final Tirthankara of the Jain religion. In remembrance of the great saint, several stories about Saint Mahavir are told to youngsters.
These worldly pleasures never appealed to him. As he grew older, he started to look for his life's purpose. At the age of 30, he left the kingdom, his family, and his financial obligations in order to find inner peace and solitude in the forest. He was saved after twelve years of rigorous penance.
King Sidhartha and Queen Trisala were the parents of Lord Mahavir. According to Swetambars, he was born in Kundalagrama, Bihar, on the thirteenth day of the Hindu calendar month of Chaitra in 599 BC. However, Digambar Jains believe that he was born in 615 BC. He was given the name Vardhaman, when he was a child. Despite being born into a royal family and surrounded by all the comforts and luxuries, he remained detached from this world of consumerism.
1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up.
2. Devotees perform abhishekam, place an idol of Lord Mahavira, and present flowers.
3. Fruits and sweets are offered by devotees. A chariot is used to carry the idol.
4. People provide clothing and food to the underprivileged and needy on this specific day.
5. On this auspicious day, people practice a rigorous fast.
6. People visit Jain temples and listen to the lectures.
7. Satvik food, which comprises freshly prepared vegetarian dishes devoid of garlic or onions, should be consumed everywhere.

- Truthfulness: Never lie and always follow the road of truth.

- Nonattachment: Refusing to become attached to someone or anything tangible.
- No Stealing: Never steal anything that hasn't been offered to you.
