Magha Gupt Navratri 2026: Date, Puja Muhurat, Rituals and Significance
Gupt Navratri is an extremely sacred period both spiritually and religiously. The sole purpose of Navratri is to worship the nine different forms of Maa Durga. Hindus celebrate Navratri four times a year - Ashadha Gupt Navratri, Magha Gupt Navratri, Chaitra Navratri, and Shardiya Navratri. Navratri is a celebration of Maa Durga that lasts for nine days and nine nights. Navratri that falls in the month of Magha known as Gupt Navratri and this year, Magha Gupt Navratri is starting from today, January 19, 2026, on Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha.

Gupt Navratri holds a great religious and spiritual significance. The main purpose of these nine days is to honor Goddess Durga, making it a very significant religious festival. Devotees offer prayers to Maa Durga for nine long days and nine nights. Navratri gives followers the chance to worship Maa Durga four times a year. Navratri that occurs in the month of Magha, known as Gupt Navratri. During Gupt Navratri, Goddess Durga is secretly worshipped, and this time period is mainly associated with Tantra Vidhya. All Sadhaks and Tantriks worship Goddess Durga during these times and seek her blessings. All Sadhaks and Tantriks take advantage of this time period when they practice siddhi through a variety of religious and spiritual practices, such as hatth yoga, meditation, chanting tantrokta and shabar mantras, performing hawan, and maintaining a strict fast. This is how they celebrate these days and perform puja to Maa Durga so that they can attain the siddhis and spiritual power.
1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up.
2. Wear nice clean clothes.
3. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Goddess Durga on that.
4. Light a diya with pure desi cow ghee in front of that idol.
5. Adorn the idol with a garland, dupatta, bindi, sindoor and other shringar items. Take a water-filled kalash, spread some akshat and place that kalash on that then cover it placing a coconut.
6. Do ghatsthapana by invoking the idol of Maa Durga.
7. Perform puja to obtain the idol's blessings after chanting vedic mantras.
8. Many devotees observe fast for nine long days to appease Maa Durga.
