Ahoi Ashtami 2024: SignificanceAhoi Ashtami is one of the most significant festivals of Hindus which is celebrated widely across the country by all the mothers. Ahoi Ashtam is also celebrated as Ahoi Athe. On this sacred day, all mother observe strict fast and offer prayers to Ahoi Mata with immense devotion and purity. This fast is observed for the well being and long life of the children. Mothers, who do not have child and are unable to conceive or facing several miscarriages, should also observe this fast and seek blessings of the Goddess so that Maa Bless them with the healthy child. They perform various puja rituals on this particular day to please Mata Ahoi and prepare various dishes to offer the Goddess. Women start their fast from sunrise and break it once they sight the stars.
Ahoi Ashtami 20245: StoryAs per Hindu Scriptures, thousands years ago a couple lived in a small village along with their seven sons. One day the mother of seven sons went to the forest to bring the soil for decorating their home but while digging the soil, her axe fell on the children of hedgehog and they died immediately. Hedgehog cursed the mother the she will tie her womb and one by one her seven sons died. Then few old lady from neighbors came to her home then she explained about her children and their demise.
After listening everything, old ladies suggested her to worship Ahoi Mata, they asked her to draw the picture of Ahoi Mata and worship every Ashtami. They also suggested her to worship Gau Mata (Cow) by feeding her everyday and doing cleaning also and she started following the same. One day cow asked her desired wishes then Gau Mata blessed her with the wish fulfillments. After a year, on the auspicious day of Ahoi Ashtami, she got her seven sons back. Since then women starts worshipping Ahoi mata and observing fast for the good fortune and longevity of their children.
Ahoi Ashtami 2024: Puja Rituals 1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath before starting puja rituals.
2. Clean the house especially puja room.
3. Prepare sattvik food such as poori, halwa, poode and sabzi for bhog prasad and after that stick a poster of Ahoi Mata on a wall.
4. Liht a diya in front of the image of the Goddess. Keep a ahoi which is an earthen pot and women fill it with water so that they can offer it to the start after sighting them in the evening.
5. Offer prayers by reciting vrat katha and seek blessings.
6. In the evening, after sighting the stars mothers can break their fast.
