Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge's love story

In a world where religious differences often divide people, former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge prove that love conquers all. After dating for several years, the couple got married and are now parents to a baby boy named Fatehsinh Khan. And their fans continue to shower them with love. But beyond the joy of parenthood lies a real-life fairy tale that started with a chance meeting, overcame religious divides, and ignored a seven-year age gap. Zaheer, the legendary fast bowler, and Sagarika, the 'Chak De! India' actress, show us that true love conquers all odds. Here's their love story:

From heartbreak to serendipity

Picture this: Zaheer Khan, fresh off a reported high-profile breakup with actress-dancer Isha Sharvani. The two met in 2005 and soon sparked a romance that even fuelled wedding buzz during the 2011 World Cup. However, due to personal differences, they parted ways by 2012. Heart a bit bruised, Zaheer stepped into a mutual friend's party where he met Sagarika Ghatge. The actress caught his attention instantly. They spoke and clicked instantly. Soon, their friendship turned into something deeper. The duo preferred to keep their relationship low-key, while their bond grew quietly but surely. It was love reborn from unexpected ashes.

Making their relationship public at Yuvraj Singh's wedding

The couple made no grand announcements of their love to the world—just a subtle debut that spoke volumes. At Yuvraj Singh's wedding to Hazel Keech in 2016, Zaheer and Sagarika showed up together, hand in hand. The internet exploded; their dating rumours were finally real. Fans swooned over the cricketer-actress couple, rooting for their understated vibe.

Taking their relationship to the next level

After dating for a couple of years, Zaheer and Sagarika got engaged in 2017. And on November 23 of the same year, the couple got married. Intimate, heartfelt, away from paparazzi frenzy—it felt like them. Their families also blended seamlessly.

Overcoming their differences

What makes Zaheer and Sagarika's story so heartwarming is how easily they navigated their differences. For the unversed, Zaheer and Sagarika have an inter-religion marriage and the couple are also in an age-gap relationship. Zaheer comes from a Muslim family, while Sagarika is rooted in Maratha heritage. But the couple faced the world head-on. When they shared their marriage plans, both sets of parents agreed easily. No conversions, no compromises; just acceptance. And their seven-year gap? Zaheer at 46, Sagarika at 39 (as of 2026)? It barely registered. They sailed through their differences, showing India that unity trumps division. Today, as parents to little Fatehsinh, they embody harmony in a divided time.

The 'Chak De! India' family screening that sealed it

Every epic love needs a charming twist, and theirs has one straight out of Bollywood. Zaheer's family needed convincing at first, as per reports—fair enough, big life steps invite caution. "Show us who she is," they said. Zaheer grabbed the Chak De! India DVD, where Sagarika shone as Preeti Sabarwal, the fierce hockey player. The entire Khan clan huddled for a movie night. By the time the film ended, her talent, grit, and warmth won them over. That screening was the bridge to Zaheer and Sagarika's forever.
