Argentina vs Uruguay took place at 5.30 am IST, one of the Copa-America matches the fans have been dying to watch. The match was held in the vacant stadiums of Estadio Nacional de Brasilia. The starting line ups of Argentina was 4-3-3 excluding Di Maria, Dybala and Aguero. The Uruguay lineups were 4-2-2 including Suarez and Cavani. The match was a competitive one, both the teams generated numerous opportunities but Argentina defeated Uruguay with a score of 1-0 because of the Messi- Rodriguez chemistry.
In the fourth minute, Messi passed a long shot to be netted by Martinez, who kicked the ball without angling for it. In the twelfth minute, the Argentines started attacking strong and Messi passed the ball to Rodriguez, {from the penalty area} and Rodriguez netted the goal. That one goal was what Argentina got the lead and after that, they weren’t able to score. Meanwhile, the Uruguay players started going on hard on Argentina and many of the Argentinian players were seem to get hurt and yet only two Uruguay players, Ocampo and Torreira, got a yellow card. In the 56th minute, even Godin got aggressive with Joaquin. They were seen tackling each other in a pretty abnormal way but no whistle was blown by the ref.
Messi and Suarez, once teammates were then as opponents and the match was ambitious. Even after Argentina was leading 1-0, Messi seemed a bit restless; trying to get the ball in the net was brutally tackled by Uruguay players. Cavani was seeing falling in the penalty area, but that wasn’t counted as a penalty and many Uruguay fans debate upon it. The match ended with a score of 1-0 putting Argentina on the top of Group A of The Copa America League. Messi posted a picture of him and the players celebrating after the match which was a social media hit. Argentina’s next match is going to be against Paraguay and Uruguay will be against Chile.
