War of holy land and India’s dilemma

Israel and Palestine are fighting for the thing which leads most of the wars in history that is a piece of land.  A land that has the most religious references in all Abrahamic religions. Jerusalem is the land of God and it must be the place of peace rather than a place of war and chaos. The British Raj left behind the two most disputes for the world to resolve for centuries one is Palestine other in Kashmir both have religious spark which is the main hurdle for reaching any resolution. After fighting for almost 72 years Israel and Palestine lost thousands of lives including women and children.

The world is bipolar on the conflict countries are taking a clear stand whether they support Israel or Palestine. On Palestine’s side, we can clearly find 57 Islamic countries including China and Russia and on Israel’s side, we have the superpower the United States of America and some European countries.

India’s official stance on the conflict is diplomatic and gave a balanced signal “we want the status quo to be maintained and stability in the region and a ceasefire from both sides.”

But the Indians are as divided as the rest of the world. Two clear opposite Twitter trends trending in the country one in support of Israel other in support of  Palestine.

People want to know what is stopping the Indian Govt from taking a clear stance. This dilemma lies in the choice between all whether friend Israel and  Palestine whose allies are India’s allies also. Saudi Arabia and UAE are the countries from where India is looking for investments and both are the suppliers of crude oil to India.

Iran is also on the list for crude import after US sanction removes from the country and the relation with Iran is very good and healthy which India doesn’t want to put at risk. At the same time, supporting Palestine India doesn’t want to make unhappy it’s one of the biggest defence suppliers and a friend who always helped India in its hour of need.

This dilemma is clearly shown in India’s official stance on the recent conflict. we Indians need to understand this dilemma and do not overreact and make this a subject of chaos, especially in India’s covid crisis right now. we need to pray that better sense prevails and humanity arises from the winner of this conflict.
