My inspirational daily morning walk
It was New Year’s day and I received my first wish from my sister at 6 am. We exchanged wishes happily but I could sense that she was not at home but somewhere outside and I heard the birds chirping. So, out of curiosity, I asked where was she so early in this chilly weather. She said she is heading towards a ground for a morning walk as she intended it to be a New-Year resolution.
After talking to her I started introspecting. I am also putting up weight day-by-day and have put on almost 10 kgs extra in the last 5 years. I want to go for a walk everyday, but nothing inspired me much to start it.
There is a barren park near our house but it is neither very near nor very far where I can go only on a two-wheeler. Even the ambiance of the park did not attract me as the trees are yet to grow, with just some dogs roaming inside.
But I thought why should I not make a resolution to walk from the next day, and make my sister a virtual companion. The first day of my walk started on January 2 at 7.30 am after sending my son to school. I wore my sports shoes and with earphones plugged in, I started my scooty listening to ‘love you zindagi’ song.
As soon as I reached and entered the park, to my astonishment there were nearly 12 people walking, jogging and running around the footpath of the park, which I earlier thought to be a barren waste land. Now it had turned out to be a beautiful park.
I walked around the park, observing the dogs sleeping, budding trees and coming across different people belonging to several age groups. I came home tired and exhausted but the fire to make it a routine had started within me.
I meet same people every day, we indulge in small conversations and discuss funny ways of making ourselves fit. A middle-aged man does back walking, a young adult walks rather strangely waving his hands and whenever he passes by the area it is surrounded with a strong perfume. Sometimes I see an old couple sitting on the cement bench and chatting with their children on the phone which reminds me of my parents. Another old man who must be no less than 80 years of age with lumps on his hands and saggy skin slowly walks everyday with all of us. For every round he takes a break of 5 minutes. I watch this old man whenever I cross him and my eyes follow him until he reaches his home that is nearby the park.
One fine morning I came across a beautiful line written on a t-shit that a jogger was wearing and it read: “No problem will stay with you forever“. I smiled to myself as all these things give me a positive motivation and inspire me to lead a joyful life.
And so my beautiful daily walks continue…
