Along with the rise of commercialism, Valentine’s Day celebrations has come to be inextricably linked up with an unprecedented boom in the sale of greeting cards, gifts and other symbolic, commemorative tokens that typically plucks the tender chords of one’s hearts.<br /><br />Valentine’s Day is spent by the love-struck swains romancing their lady-loves with flowers, cards, candlelit dinners besides the showering of an assortment of dinky gifts. And in an apt response to the fine sentiments, so nobly expressed by their inamoratas, winsome ladies come forward to meet and reciprocate the gestures of their loved ones, putting on their fanciest togs and turning out in their resplendent best. Such is the fever and frisson on Valentine’s Day, that even the most coy and demure of the lasses, plan something very special to win over their love mates.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Preparation Galore </span><br /><br />Love-struck boys of West Delhi have been inordinately busy, planning and rehearsing their every move to make this Valentine’s Day truly memorable. As the V-day nears, the air is thick with anticipation. The guys who most are looking forward to the V-Day to break, are getting nervous and feeling the jitters. At stake for them is all their carfefully laid out plans designed to bowl over the maidens while helping themselves become like valiant knights in shining armours, in the eyes of their amours. “With so much riding on those expectations, the odds on their fulfillment and their likely outcome, boys and girls are on pins and needles even as they wait for the V-Day to dawn,� predicts 21 years old Tejbir Singh of Hari Nagar. With so much hinging on and hanging by the plans concocted by daffy souls bound in love, every one is keeping his or her fingers crossed, waiting with bated breath for the moment to come and play itself out. <br /><br />For most of the hunks, a novel way of spending the Valentine’s Day involves a romantic meal and spending quality time with their beau. “The sun should rise and set with my Valentine. That’s it! In the evening, I will arrange a small party between us where I will play her favourite music,� says Tajbir. Rahul Jain, 20, of Karol Bagh, who has his own unique plans for Valentine’s Day. “I would like to spend away the day in the arms of my girlfriend. Later, I would take her to a disc and dance away the whole evening with her,� he says. Ankit Babbar, 19, of Paschim Vihar says, “Though I dream of being alone with my Valentine on some tiny island or in a valley of flowers, this year we’ll meet at the Buddha Jayanti Park. I’ll give her a red rose and spend the day staring into her eyes.�<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Dreamz Unlimited</span><br /><br />Not to be outdone, the girls of West Delhi have their own ideas on how they would like to be surprised on Valentine’s Day. Monica Malhotra, 24, a BPO executive residing in Janakpuri, says, “I want him at my door step at the time I wake up. I wish he comes with a bouquet of red roses, and gives it to me with a big hug in front of my parents.� <br /><br />Sweety Sharma, 25, of Sector 10 Dwarka says, “My boy friend stays in Mumbai. I would be pleasantly surprised if he were to come here and spend the whole day with me. I expect a diamond ring from him this year and wish he sends me a card everyday for the rest of the Valentine month.� Gushes Parul Goel, 18, a student of Guru Gobind Singh College, Punjabi Bagh, “This is my first Valentine’s Day with my first crush. I just want him to say that he’ll stay my Valentine for the rest of my life.�</div> </div>
