Rising shuttler PV Sindhu became the first winner of the TOISA badminton player of the year award at the inaugural Times of India Sports Awards held at Gurgaon.
NEW DELHI: Rising shuttler PV Sindhu became the first winner of the TOISA badminton player of the year award at the inaugural Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) held at Gurgaon on Thursday.
Sindhu, who had a memorable 2014, was nominated in the category along with Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap, Kidambi Srikanth, Jwala Gutta, RMV Gurusaidutt and Ashwini Ponnappa.
Sindhu is known for her extraordinary skills and fighting spirit.

She is the first Indian to win two back-to-back medals in the World Badminton Championships.
Sindhu defeated second ranked Shixian Wang in three gruelling sets 19-21, 21-19, 21-15, to reach the 2014 World Cup semifinal in Denmark.
Sindhu's father P V Ramana has represented India in volleyball and he is also a Padma Shri awardee.
