Company blogs have become important tools of communication between employees in large corporations. PT explains why.Blogs are not just online diaries anymore. They have become vital tools of communication between friends, between employees and even between employers and employees. Many employers are increasingly relying on blogs for free and quick flow of information, and also to build bridges of understanding among the employees.
Explains N Chandramouli, a company CEO, "We introduced an internal blog in our company six months ago. Earlier , we had to depend on emails. But now, things are easy. Employees in our company have also developed strong bonding via regular blogging." He further adds, "Our blog helps in quick flow of information, and also for receiving immediate reactions from the employees across the country. A sense of empathy has developed, which helps in enhancing performance." Now that many companies have spread their offices in different parts of the country and even across the world, the internal blog has become a useful medium of communication . The simple reason is that a blog has a life of its own. It also offers a platform for self-expression , and opens new channels of interaction among the employees and their senior management. Says Karen Carvalho, a corporate communications manager in a BPO, "Internal blogs are introduced by companies not only to create positive interaction among the workers, but also to help in marketing the company. The organisations look at them as an investment. Besides, they also make the work culture more amicable." Companies are making the maximum use of blogs to promote innovation, knowledge management, competitive insight and communication. Amrita Patel, a corporate communications manager in a software company, asserts, "We have more than 2,000 active bloggers. And they post regularly expressing their views on matters concerning them. This helps in creating a positive work environment." nozia.sayyed@timesgroup .com
