Overnight success may have catapulted her into the big league of actresses, but Amrita Rao does not seem affected by fame. Dressed in casual denims, we caught up with her in a city hotel as she sat surrounded by fans, eagerly signing autographs.

This is what probably makes her stand apart from the rest today — her ability to not take herself too seriously.

On her recent success:

The past two or three months have been very lucky for me. The fact that three of my movies have been commercially successful in the last three months has made me very happy. It''s a great feeling, but at the same time, I don''t intend to get carried away by it because the same thing could have happened to me in a span of three years. That I am a hit, has still not sunk in.

Before she ventured into films:

I was studying Psychology when I got a modeling offer for a fairness cream product. It all started from there. I never planned to get into the field and even though my focus was on studies, the fascination was always there. I think it''s destiny that has brought me here.

How a lot has changed:

Lots has changed for me. Including people I know. But I do believe that people who are good are inherently good. Not everyone runs to you when you''re famous. At the same time, I think it''s rightfully true that a lot more people are attracted to you when you''re doing well. It''s human tendency.

How she stays grounded

To an extent, my family and the fact that I do not have any backing in the industry keeps me grounded. What I do today is based on what I think is best for me. And when I walk onto the sets today, I still feel like a newcomer.

Her family ties:

My mom is always with me and is more like my manager now. I have all the restrictions that parents usually make, but they are also broad-minded enough to let me choose my own opportunities. My family is always positive, so I am my biggest critic.

On Pune:

Most of my mom''s relatives live here and I have spent a lot of time shooting here for The Legend of Bhagat Singh. There is something very beautiful about Pune.

On her future:

I want to work with directors who know their mind and are prepared. Unfortunately, most filmmakers write scripts on the set which is really sad. That''s why I like directors like Ken Ghosh and Farah Khan.

On her personal life:

I have no time to miss the presence of a guy at this stage in my life, but I make time for friends as and when possible.
