Get your fix of eggs - both sweet and savoury - this Easter

As the world prepares to celebrate Easter, patisseries, cafes and bakeries across the city have been working hard to stock their shelves with Easter goodies. "We always come up with special desserts during festivals. Easter is a holiday of feasting and a lot of our guests want more options. We have regular chocolate eggs with orange and strawberry filling, chocolate ganache and dry fruit eggs and many others this year," says

is looking forward to trying out Easter eggs in different flavours this year. "I always like to try new things when it comes to food. I ordered custom made eggs that would have a Wellington cake with white chocolate and coconut crust. This is something I am looking forward to this year," she says.

You'll find that the city offers a plethora of options to suit all tastes. The idea is, after all, to celebrate with whatever makes you tick. With this in mind, Kunal Bansal, the chef and co-owner at Lord Of the Drinks, came up with what they're calling a Boozy Easter Egg Shot, for thier patrons. "Creamy liqueurs like Amarula pair very well with chocolate and remind you of the holidays. Kahlua adds a nice coffee flavour, whereas the peppermint schnapps balances out the rich creamy texture of the shot," he explains, about their special Easter concoction.

has come up with an Egg in a Hole. "This is a take on the Middle Eastern egg preparation, Shakshuka. We use scotch eggs that are are baked and finished with a crisp bread ring that acts as a hole for the eggs. Fusion recipes like these are popular as they can be savoured at any time of the day." Equally unusual is the Arancini Eggs at The Daily All Day. Cooked in Arborio rice, mixed with Italian herbs and cheese, and coated with breadcrumbs, this one sounds delicious. And the best part, is that the chef says you can make it at home. "The preparation is fairly easy. We get a lot of orders for these as people are bored of chocolate Easter eggs and this dish is a meal," says

And for the health conscious, there's Avocado Oeufs En Cocotte (Eggs In Pots). Using an avocado to bake the eggs makes the preparation flavourful, presentable and even tastier, believes chef

, from Coriander Kitchen. "Traditionally, this dish gets its name from a type of flat dish in which it’s baked. But I have replaced the ceramic pot with an avocado half which gives it a distinct flavour. Avocado also adds to the nutrition value of the dish which makes it a popular choice," he says.
