Poster boys of Telugu television

Going by the recent set of reality shows on TV, it’s clear that there’s a dearth of male anchors in Telugu TV industry; however, here’s a list of some of the most popular small screen anchors, who have managed to make a big splash

Pradeep
RJ turned TV anchor, Pradeep Machiraju is nothing short of a heartthrob on small screen. After hosting several reality shows, he finally hit a jackpot with Gadasari Atta Sogasari Kodalu, a game show where mothers-in-law compete with their daughters-in-law. And there has been no turning back ever since for him. Three years after he made his debut on small screen, he was bestowed with a Nandi Award for Best Anchor and he went on to host a show named after himself – Pradeep Darbar. Currently, he’s producing and hosting a new talk show – Koncham Touch Lo Unte Chepta, which has already become one of the most popular reality shows on TV. Apart from his shows on TV, Pradeep has acted in few films like 100% Love, Julayi and Attarintiki Daredi.

Ravi
Ravi began his career as a choreographer for sangeet parties; however, a chance meeting with actor Nagarjuna changed his life forever. Apparently, it was Nagarjuna who encouraged him to explore options in TV and soon, he ended up hosting multiple shows. In the past few months alone, the anchor has been spotted hosting shows like Something Special, One, Maa Oori Vanta, Family Circus, Kiraak, Mondi Mogudu Penki Pellam to name a few.

Hemachandra
After establishing his career as a singer in feature films, Hemachandra made his foray on small screen as a host of a singing talent show, Bol Baby Bol. He’s currently co-hosting the show along with his wife, Sravana Bhargavi. Despite stiff competition from other popular TV shows, Bol Baby Bol has managed to stay in the list of top five reality shows on TV and thanks to this, Hemachandra cemented his position further as a popular anchor.

Abhinaya Krishna
Prior to his foray into small screen, Abhinaya Krishna was a choreographer and an imitation dancer. Interestingly, his original name was Harikrishna and at one point of time, popular poet and writer, Dr C Narayana Reddy, who witnessed his performance on stage, baptized him as Abhinaya Krishna and encouraged him a lot. Since then, Abhinaya Krishna has made quite a name for himself with shows like Jabardasth and he recently hosted a comedy show, Family Circus.

Chanti
A popular comedian in films, Chanti made quite a name for himself on small screen with shows like Jabardasth and One. His comic timing and energy even earned him a new onscreen named ‘Chalaki’ Chanti. Although he hasn’t been hosting any shows, of late, the comedian turned anchor did become a household name with his hilarious antics.
