Bhagalpur: Police on Tuesday arrested a youth in his 20s and recovered 40 stolen mobile phones, a laptop and cash during a raid near Asanandpur in Parbatti locality under university police station area.
The raid was conducted following a tip-off received by Bhagalpur SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav. Acting on the input, a police team led by City SP Shailendra Kumar Singh, along with the city DSP, was formed to verify the information and apprehend the accused. Personnel from the university police station and the district intelligence unit (DIU) were also involved in the operation.
Abhimanyu, son of Sanjay Mandal, is a resident of Paraiya village under Amdanda police station area in Sanhoula block of Kahalgaon subdivision.
University police station SHO Avinash Raut said an FIR has been registered in this regard.
Police suspect that the accused may be part of an organised gang involved in the sale and purchase of stolen mobile phones and other criminal activities across the district.
