Woman’s partially burnt body found in suitcase on banks of Punpun river

Patna: Partially burned body of a woman was found stuffed in a suitcase near the Punpun river in Patna district late Thursday night.

Locals noticed foul smell emanating from the suitcase and informed the police.

On receiving the information, Didarganj police along with Fatuha SDPO Avdhesh Prasad reached the spot and recovered the badly decomposed body.

“The body appears to be seven to eight days old. Given its condition, it is very difficult to ascertain the identity. Villagers suspect she was killed, burned, and then stuffed into the suitcase before being dumped on the riverbank,” said the SDPO.

The body has been sent for autopsy to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital. Nearby police stations have been alerted, and photos of the woman circulated. Police are also reviewing nearby CCTV footage to gather leads.

“The investigation is being carried out from every angle. The woman’s identity will be established, and the accused will be arrested soon,” the SDPO added.
