NEW DELHI: Celebrated cueist
Pankaj Advani clinched the TOISA Cueist of the Year at the inaugural Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) held at Gurgaon on Thursday.
Advani, winner of multiple world titles, edged out Chitra Magimairaj, Sourav Kothari and Vidya Pillai to the award of top Indian cueist at the gala event attended by a host of famous national and international sports personalities.
Advani loves winning world titles. A record haul of 12 World Championship titles at the age of 29 years is proof enough of his prodigious talent and hunger for success.
He is the second Indian after Geet Sethi to have won World Professional Billiards title. He is a holder of numerous records and for his achievements was named by the World Economic Forum as one of the three 'Global Shapers' from India in 2013.
In the year 2014, Advani won four world titles to take his tally to 12. The Government of India has recognized his achievements and bestowed him with several national awards including Padma Shri - India's fourth highest civilian honour.
