Over 200 cancer surgeons attend IASO MIDCON 2026 in Raipur
RAIPUR: The Indian Association of Surgical Oncology (IASO) is holding its national mid-term conference, MIDCON 2026, in Raipur on February 7 and 8. The two-day conference has brought together more than 200 national-level cancer surgeons from across the country and nearly 300 specialists from Chhattisgarh.
The conference features three distinguished international faculty members from Singapore and South Korea. Prof Jimmy So, an eminent cancer surgeon from the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, delivered a presentation on the modern management and surgical treatment of gastric cancer. He shared global best practices and advanced treatment protocols.
From South Korea, Prof Hye-Jin Kim delivered expert lectures on lateral pelvic lymph node dissection in rectal cancer and fluorescence-guided surgery in colorectal cancer. Another expert, Prof Seung Ho Song, addressed scientific sessions on machine learning-based risk assessment for complications after rectal cancer surgery. He also presented a comparison of laparoscopic versus robotic-assisted surgery for colorectal cancer, specifically discussing the COLRAR Trial.
Senior cancer surgeons Dr Yousuf Memon, Dr Mau Rai, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, and Dr Amit Verma are leading various scientific sessions and panel discussions. They shared their experience in advanced cancer surgery, modern diagnostic approaches, and multidisciplinary management.
The academic framework of the conference has been supported by the contributions of Dr Jaswant Jain, Dr Shravan Nadkarni, Dr Arpan Chaturmuhata, Dr Vivek Patel, and Dr Vikas Agrawal. Their guidance ensured structured scientific sessions covering latest diagnostic techniques for various cancers, minimally invasive and robotic surgeries, multidisciplinary cancer treatment approaches.
IASO national president Dr T Subramanyeshwar Rao and secretary Dr Narendra Hulikal are attending the proceedings.
The event is being organised under the joint auspices of the Chhattisgarh Oncology Association, Regional Cancer Centre Raipur, and Sanjeevani Cancer Care Foundation at the Courtyard by Marriott.
