WASHINGTON: An Indian family in the US separated due to the recent travel restrictions in view of Covid cases in India was united over the weekend. Software solutions architect Ashu Mahajan, who is on H-1B visa, travelled to India on April 17 to see his ailing father just days before his death on April 21 from Covid-19.
But before he could return home to New Jersey, the new curbs led to the closure of US embassies and consulates in India.
Mahajan was able to get back to the US only after top Democratic Senator Robert Menendez intervened. āIām incredibly proud of my staff for bringing Mr Mahajan back home,ā he said as he was joined by Mahajan, his wife and two daughters.
